This is the starting point for help with advocacy in Florida schools. One of TSA Florida's highest priorities is ensuring that children with TS in our schools receive the appropriate consideration that they are entitled to under the law.
Tourette Syndrome is listed in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as a disability. It is also listed in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as a learning disability. As such, your child may be entitled to a "504" plan or an Independent Education Plan (IEP).
However, establishing that TS is detrimentally affecting your child's progress in school can sometimes be difficult. The material links that you can follow in this area of our website will help guide you in determining if an IEP is needed and if advocacy help from one of our members will be necessary.
